Consuelo Iemma
Artista
Consuelo Iemma was born stateless, but geographically in Calabria, where the leaves of centuries-old oaks sing a nostalgic litany stirred by the sirocco wind. She was born into the dichotomy of the terrifying beauty of Scylla and Charybdis, into what they once were and would never be again. She speaks of her homeland. Of the deepest South and of the myth that dwells, like a vestige of life, in the most ordinary gestures of every daily experience. From Scylla and then Charybdis, from Circe to Hephaestus, passing through the oracle of Capo Vaticano. Mythology as a tool to narrate an event, contextualizing it in the present day. Her paintings are created using various techniques, starting with the use of salvaged bases (medium or large panels) on which materials are installed based on the story she wishes to tell.
